Thanks for taking in consideration what I wrote, and thanks for writing this post.
After reading what you wrote, I kept thinking about the fact stores (and people) put christmas things so early. It's true. And maybe I won't be tired about christmas, but expecting something special for that day. Santa won't exist anyway, but at least it gives more "magic" to that special day.
About the real meaning of the day: I'm not so religious. For me, it's not about Christ, it's about the day. Family. Every nice feeling with a +1 suffix.
Yesterday it was a cold chat with our neighbours and another family. We were talking about Arquimedes and passive smokers. I didn't eat so much, I wasn't hungry.
I felt like kids when they are in a boring place, hearing boring conversations. I just wanted to go! I don't like when I must be in a place wasting time because 'I must be kind'. It's like eucharisty. If you don't really feel what's behind, you are eating a cookie and nothing else.
Last year I've sent SMS to every friend I can. This year instead, I made a funny postcard and sent it to a huge list of friends, family and other acquaintances. It was less expensive, it was more personal, and it had better feedback. (I didn't sent it to you because it's in spanish, but next year I'll try to anticipate and make an english version too)
It wasn't like saying to everyone "hey, wish you a special day", but it was a better approach.
I felt the difference of a "virtual" greeting and a real one at my birthday.
Because you don't remember how it is like when you are writing in a chat window. But next time you talk, think again: isn't nice to see the other person's eyes looking at you? Isn't better to be hearing each other without a headset in the middle?
It's nice walking around and getting in touch with what really happens.
I agree with you.
We need to be more a part of the world, rather than Us and the world.
Yesterday's post and this one made me think a lot. Thanks :)
